Slide Coaster

The World’s First Hybrid Roller Coaster and Waterslide

Powered by SENSIL Linear Synchronous Motors

Force Engineering and Electroproject’s SENSIL LSM system will power the unique Slide Coaster designed and manufactured by wiegand.waterrides GmbH and Up & Down Engineering.

At the heart of the coaster is a continuous line of patented, sensor-less, iron-less LSM stators launching the drive vehicle along the inclined track to a speed of 50km/h and then controlling its return to the start position after the passenger rafts have detached and continued into the flumes.
  • Low Maintenance

The sensor-less stators allow for a shorter launch zone with less equipment to install and maintain than other LSM systems. Control is instantaneously and precisely calculated on the interaction between the stators and magnet arrays.

  • Customisable Force

Individual stators provide 8kN per stator metre for both acceleration and braking for this application. Larger forces are possible for other applications from the same stator block.

  • Heat Management

Stator heat management is completed without the need for forced air cooling as fixed heatsinks along the stator base dissipate the excess even in high ambient temperature environments.

  • Lightweight but Strong Frames

The drive vehicle is fitted with Force’s unique composite material magnet frames to improve system efficiency due to reduced weight when compared to standard steel frames. The magnet array itself is designed ensuring the required magnetic field is generated with minimal material and retained within the frame envelope to prevent interference with other equipment.  The composite frame was designed to be stronger than steel alternative, and stress-testing shows it withstands a 9kN crush force along with millions of 1kN stresses, simulating actual operation, without compromising the integrity. The frame is coated in a UV and moisture resistant finish to prolong life in outdoor environments.

  • Real Time Control

SENSIL’s control is provided by Electroproject’s patented sensor-less system which measures, controls, and monitors the drive vehicle’s speed and position in real time. Ensuring perfect launches every time, Electroproject designed proprietary hardware specifically for the amusement industry. Utilising fibre-optics to carry information at light speed for optimal performance, the system is already operating faultlessly on 4 rides around the world.

  • Energy Efficient

System efficiency is 95% at peak operation and during braking, the electrical system captures some of the excess energy generated and diverts it back to the energy store for re-use on the next launch.
